The Alchemist
Nike and Spotify wanted Air Max Day to mean something in Johannesburg, something that captured how music and fashion represented the city and its communities.
In Joburg's underground scene, making music is a ritual. Raw sound shaped in dark studios, carried to the streets, until a track becomes something the whole city feels.
Working with our Creative Director Monde, we developed The Alchemist, an immersive short film and integrated campaign premiering at the Braamfontein event. Built around DBN Gogo and OmagoQa as cultural curators of the scene, the film peels back the creative alchemy behind a breakout track, holding Nike's trial-by-fire energy and Spotify's reverence for sound in a single piece of work.
Alongside the film, Spotify launched On Tour Africa: Sounds of the Air Max DN8 — a curated playlist connecting the sonic world of The Alchemist to listeners across the continent.
